Ballot access, ballot measures, candidate materials, disputes and political litigation.

Our approach

All practice areas

TPLG advises candidates, campaigns, ballot measure committees, public agencies and other participants in the electoral process on the laws governing access to and participation in elections. Our work spans candidate qualifications and ballot access, ballot designations and candidate statements, initiative drafting and qualification, election administration and disputes arising before and after Election Day.

Our ballot measure practice provides counsel throughout the initiative process. We advise proponents, opponents, funders and committees on drafting and qualification, campaign structure, disclosure and compliance, legal strategy and post-election proceedings. Where disputes require litigation, our lawyers prosecute and defend challenges involving candidates, ballot materials, measures and other election-law questions.

We bring the same approach to election disputes that informs the rest of our practice: deep knowledge of the governing law, an understanding of the political context in which the dispute is unfolding and practical advice about the consequences of decisions made under compressed timelines.
